Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally revealed who is the new owner of Avengers Tower in the first trailer of The Thunderbolts. The Earth’s mightiest heroes has been missing for a long time. Since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, they haven’t been active in the MCU. This is due to both the Avengers not appearing in the films, as well as the team not having any missions in the background, as in Captain America: Brave New World trailers, Thunderbolts Ross is seen asking Sam Wilson to bring the Avengers back together.
Thunderbolts trailer finally reveals who bought Avengers Tower
After seven years of mystery, the buyer - or one of the buyers - of Avengers Tower has been revealed. The new trailer of
Thunderbolts takes its time showing which characters will be part of the deeper MCU team, with anti-heroes like U.S. Agent, Yelena Belova, and Ghost slowly coming together.
The new trailer of the MCU's upcoming
Thunderbolts movie finally addresses the major questions we've been asking for a while. Like any good MCU ensemble film, the new trailer tells us there will be plenty of fight scenes between the unlikely allies. When Bucky rescues Yelena, Red Guardian, Ghost, and Walker from a hostile convoy, he also blows up their car.
They are all calm when they meet with CIA head Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Avengers Tower. She revealed that the CIA had bought it, saying, "The place wasn't cheap, but it has good optics.”
Why did Tony Stark take the decision to sell Avenger Tower?
Tony Stark's decision to sell Avengers Tower remains unclear in the films, but fans have theorized that it was a practical choice. Having the superhero team headquartered in the middle of New York City posed significant risks, especially after the Battle of New York. Allowing the Avengers to be moved to a more secure, remote location for improved operational security.
In
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), the tower was shown undergoing renovations, leading to further speculation about its new owner. The removal of the iconic Avengers "A" symbol by 2024 signaled its complete change, paving the way for it to appear in the
Thunderbolts.
Who is Valentina really working for?
The
Thunderbolts trailer shows that the CIA, now under Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus), has taken control of the iconic Avengers Tower. This moment highlights how much power Valentina has gained in the MCU. With her clever and manipulative personality, her takeover of the tower fits perfectly with her role as CIA Director, which was confirmed in
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Conclusion
I’m genuinely excited for this film, which is something i didn’t think I’d feel about the MCU again. It seems to take a more grounded approach to a team-up, blending intriguing characters from the shows and recent movies while also introducing fresh faces. I'm also happy that it's a movie and not another series that requires me to dedicate six hours.
